When James sits down with both his parents and Bob, he is ready to unload his feelings of abandonment on his father.

But now he chooses to go after his mother instead.

Tracy then unleashes all her resentment toward Jimmy for abandoning his children and leaving her to always pick up the pieces. "Those kids know that no matter what they say, I'm not going away."

"I would like to have a Dad," James says plaintively. He tells his father that he believes he gave him up in favor of marijuana. He talks about how much he wants a father.

"Either you're a part of their lives or you're not," declares Tracy. "And if you are going to be part of their lives, you're going to have to understand it's about sacrifice.

"That's what the dad does; he sacrifices for his family," James tells his father.

Bob gets Jimmy to promise that he will submit for a drug test in a month and come back and see James.

"His father may never be who James needs him to be, but," Bob explains, "I hope James will be able to find the father inside himself."

"He's only a 12 year old boy who needs a dad."
