Dr. Fred
Goodwin is a physician-scientist specializing in psychiatry
and psychopharmacology.
He is the former Director
of National Institutes of Mental Health (NIMH). Previously,
he held a Presidential Appointment as head of the Alcohol,
Drug Abuse, and Mental Health Administration.
Dr. Goodwin is a Professor of Psychiatry and Director of
The Center on Neuroscience, Medical Progress, and Society,
at The George Washington University Medical Center.
He has received the Distinguished Service Award from the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, the top research prize by the National Mental Health Association, and was the first recipient of the Humanitarian Award from the National Depressive and Manic-Depressive Association.
He is one of five psychiatrists on the Current Contents list of the most-frequently cited scientists in the world, one of 12 psychiatrists listed in the Best Doctors in the U.S. |
