Three weeks later, James is back in a VisionQuest wilderness
camp in Wewoka, Oklahoma. It is a long-term arrangement to give
him time to figure out why he does what he does.
James has managed to control his temper and bring his grades way
up to B's and C's... pretty good for a kid who never finished one
full year of schooling.
Tracy is thrilled with James' achievement. "He always got
D's and F's before. I'm so proud of him and he's so proud of
himself."

Tracy has a warm reunion with the judge who first sentenced
her to VisionQuest as a 14 year old ward of the state in 1979.
Tracy enlists the judge's help in her struggle to get the State
to bring VisionQuest back into Colorado to help her son.
Tracy fears that time is running out for James.

Tracy is determined but she still doubts herself deeply.
"I may come off as confident, and I may be doing all these
things, but there's another side that tells me, 'You're still just
shit! You'll always be shit! And that's the way everybody sees you,
especially men.'"
"I get so mad at James because he's right: I am weak."
